GIS mapping and assessing records

Your town's parcel map and assessing records, online and in your control.

One service for Maine towns: a modern online GIS parcel map, a public assessing site, and yearly map upkeep drawn from the recorded deeds and plans. Built and reviewed by a Certified Maine Assessor.

What's included

A map and an assessing site that share the same records

Residents, realtors and town staff look up a property in one place and get the map, the values and the paperwork together.

The map

Online parcel map

  • Parcels with lot numbers, street names and dimensions
  • Recent aerial photos and LiDAR bare-earth imagery
  • Zoning, shoreland, flood zones, wetlands, conserved land, E911 addresses and more
  • Search by owner, address or map and lot
  • Assessing search on the map: highlight every homestead, exempt, tree growth, farmland, waterfront or commercial property, filter by lot size or recent sales, and see the count and total value
  • Abutter lists for any parcel, at the distance you set
  • Measure distance and area
  • Drop a marker anywhere to open Google Street View
  • Print tax map sheets to PDF
The assessing site

Public assessing records

  • Property card, valuation card and tax bill copies, emailed on request
  • Homestead, veteran, blind, farmland, open space, tree growth and renewable energy forms filed online, attached to the property and sent to your office
  • Each tax bill broken out by school, town and county share
  • Confidential details, such as veteran and blind exemptions, never shown publicly

Not just a tax map

A map for anyone planning to build

Click any lot and the map shows what the land can be used for, not only who owns it.

  • Zoning, explained: the lot's district and which uses are allowed, allowed with approval, or not allowed, drawn from the town's own ordinance.
  • Shoreland and setbacks: whether the lot is in the shoreland zone, measured on the map, and a sketch of the buildable area the zoning setbacks leave.
  • Wetlands and flood zones: where they fall on the lot and how much of it they cover.
  • Conserved land and habitat: the town's conserved lands and state habitat layers that can shape a project.
  • The ground itself: LiDAR terrain shows slopes and drainage before anyone walks the site.

Builders, realtors, surveyors, buyers and your code office all get the same answers, faster, and your staff field fewer of the same questions.

Every lot's details are for reference. The code enforcement officer makes the final call.

Town control

Your staff can update the map, and nothing goes live without approval

Town staff sign in through a web browser. Edits wait in an approval queue until the person you choose signs off.

APlanning layers

Add trails and sidewalks, update zoning shading, and group parcels into a highlighted layer for a project or a hearing.

BProposed lot changes

See a proposed split or boundary change with the recorded survey drawn over the parcel, before it reaches the published map.

How it compares

More than a map, for less than a map service

The basics match what towns expect from any online map. The rest is what PRISM adds.

Why it costs less

Built lean, without cutting corners

No expensive licenses. PRISM's maps run on proven open-source mapping software, so there are no license fees to pass on to your town.

Built for the way assessing works. Our software reads the metes and bounds in each deed and survey plan and plots the lines directly onto the parcel map. A Certified Maine Assessor reviews every change before it is published.

Lean by design. A focused Maine practice with low overhead and no layers of management built into the bill.

Lower cost does not mean less care. Every map change is reviewed by a Certified Maine Assessor before it is published.
